BE AWARE WHEN YOUR AGE HAS REACHED 40 YEARS

Many people do not realize that it is written in the Holy Quran about things to consider and follow up when age of the mankind is 40 years.

Allah Said :

“And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning period is thirty months. He grows until, when he reaches maturity and REACHES THE AGE OF FORTY YEARS, HE SAYS : "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."”.[Al-'Aĥqāf 15]

The age 40 years is clearly mentioned in this verse. At this age the mankind reach their top life in terms of physical, intellectual, emotional, or spiritual. He/She really left his/her youth age and step to the real adult age.

The pray contained in the verse are encouraged to be read by those of aged 40 years or older. In it contained a clear explanation that they have received the perfect favor, the tendency to do positive deeds, already have a harmony family, tendency to repent and return to Allah.

Allah Said :ُ

"And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us; we will do good deeds - other than what we were doing!" But DID WE NOT GRANT YOU LIFE ENOUGH FOR WHOEVER WOULD REMEMBER THEREIN TO REMEMBER, AND THE WARNER HAD COME TO YOU? So taste the punishment, for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper".[Fāţir 37]

According to Ibnu Abbas, Hasan al-Bashri, al-Kalbi, Wahab ben Munabbih, and Masruq –Radhiyallahu ajma’in-, what is meant by “longevity in the future enough to think” in the mention verse no other is when 40 year old.

According to Ibnu Katsir, this verse give hints that the man toward age of 40 should updated repentance and truly return to Allah.

When it applies toward the age 40 years, then Allah provided His promise in the next verse, which is Maturity.

Allah Said :

"Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, their being among the companions of Paradise. That is the promise of truth which they had been promised".[Al-'Aĥqāf 16]

The age 40 years is the mature age for us to be truly in Life. Collect experiences, sharpened the wisdom and policy, throw away the young age ignorance, more beware, see things with wisdom and full careful. It's no wonder that leader's shapes appear in mature at this age.

Even the Prophet of Allah as mention by Ibn ‘Abbas :

“He sent the Messenger at age 40 years”.(HR Bukhari).

Muhammad the Prophet of Allah was sent as a prophet right at the age of 40 years. As with the other prophets, except the Prophet Isa a.s and the Prophet Yahya a.s.

Many countries set to occupy the Elite offices, namely the Heads of State, requirement of the nominee candidate shall be in the aged 40 years.

The society itself recognize the achievements of a person is steady when that person is 40 year old.

•| Soekarno became the President at the age 44 years.
•| Soeharto became the President at the age 46 years.
•| J.F. Kennedy 44 years.
•| Bill Clinton 46 years.
•| Paul Keating 47 years.
•| Tony Blair 44 years.

Why is the age 40 years so important ?

According to Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jauziyah the age of mankind is classified in 4 (four) periodic, which are :

●Children (Aulad): since birth until puberty

●Young man (Syabab) : since puberty until 40 years
●Adult (Kuhul) : at the age 40 years, the age when mankind realy left his/her young period and switch to perfect adult life.

The most interesting fact at this age of 40 years is the increased interest of someone toward religion, while during his youth far away from religion. As if a kind of nature in this age, lively the first close the genitals (part of the body which may not be visible while performing a ritual) and participated in the religious studies.
If there is a person who already reach this age, however, he/she has not yet interest in religion; then this is a bad omen of the conclusion of his/her age on Earth.

One of the peculiarity of the age 40 years reflected in the oracles of the Prophet of Allah :

“•When the age of a muslim servant reach 40 years, Allah will lighten His computation (his/her deeds accounting).
•When his/her age reach 60 years, Allah will provide grace in the form of ability to return (repent) to Him.
•When his/her age reach 70 years, the people of heaven (Angel) will Love him/her.
•When his/her age reach 80 years, Allah will determine his/her good deeds and deleted his/her bad deeds.
•And when his/her age reach 90 years, Allah will forgive his/her last sins and previous sins, Allah will also gives aid to his/her family members, as well as Allah will register him/her as the prisoner of Allah on Earth”.(HR. Imam Ahmad)

This Hadith(=traditional collection of stories relating words or deeds of Muhammad the chief source of guidance for understanding religious questions) mention the 40 years age the earliest has a commitment to servitude to Allah Almighty all at once consistent toward Islam, then Allah Almighty will lighten his/her computation.
People who his/her age reach 40 years get privileges his/her computation will be alleviated.
But the age 40 year is also the period to beware. Likewise time, people that is 40 years old may have entered the twilight.

Allah Said :

"Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah , then indeed, Allah is swift in taking account".['Āli `Imrān 19]

In one history of Abdullah ben Abbas ra, he said :

“Whoever reach the age of 40 years and his/her good deeds are not stable and can not beat his/her bad deeds, then he/she better prepare to enter the hell. "

The Leader of a communal peayer, Asy-Syafi’i, when he reach 40 years, he walks using stick.
If asked "why he use a stick", he answered : "To remind me that I am a traveler.
For the sake of Allah, now I see myself as a bird that is prison in the cage. Then the bird loose in the air, except its feet are still moored in the cage. My recent commitment is also like it.
I do not have anymore desire to remain living on Earth. I'm not condescend my friends to give me a bit of alms from the world. I'm not condescend also that they remind me a bit about the tumultuous world, except the thing that according to my common sense. Between me in my common sense there is Allah.”

Then, what should we do when we are 40 years?

•| Affirming life goals;
•| Increase the spiritual's power;
•| Made of the gray hair as a warning (not to be pull off);
•| Multiply grateful;
•| Watch over eating and sleeping;
•| Keep deligent and continous in act of devotion.

If anyone says that :

"Life began at forty",

Then I tend to argue that the intended life is the life that is been directed closer with truth to His creator.

Allah Said :

"So is one whose breast Allah has expanded to accept Islam and he is upon a light from his Lord like one whose heart rejects it? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah . Those are in manifest error".[Az-Zumar 22]

But one matter that we should always aware of, that the death will call upon us anytime without signals, without warning and without presuming the age.
If we considered has to wait the 40 years age just to start the Life as meant above, then our lives is loss and vain if our age is not long!

The Prophet's Hadith(=traditional collection of stories relating words or deeds of Muhammad; the chief source of guidance for understanding religious questions) :

"The wisdom person is a person who always remember the death”.

Mankinds are bustling been deceived by the beauty of the world and its temporary contents.
Since the Prophet Adam a.s upto now, all of them has return to Allah Praise be unto Thee the Almighty, not be rich or poor, having rank or not.

Remembering death is not meant we will fail in the world. But by remembered death we will become the mankind who succeed in the world and in the hereafter.

Allah Said :

"O' you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]".['Āli `Imrān 102]

Don't wait until tomorrow to make an inventory to face the death, because the death may arrive any time.

Allah Said :

"This Holy Quran is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but One God and that those of understanding will be reminded".[Ibrahim 52]

"O' you who have believed, enter into Islam completely and perfectly and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, Satan is to you a clear enemy".[Al-Baqarah 208]

"It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. INDEED, ALLAH IS FULL OF BOUNTY TO THE PEOPLE, BUT MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE NOT GRATEFUL”.[Ghāfir 61]

May all of us always thanks to the healthy grace and able to take care of as well as guard it as the form of pious; and may all of us are able to follow His directive which are written in the Holy Quran.
